Owen worked as an Agricultral Labourer in England - times may have been hard and he emigrated to New Zealand on the ship 'Corona' which sailed from London on 23 May 1874 arriving in Port Chalmers Aug 28 1874 with his wife Dinah and 4 boys. he settled his family at Green island, Dunedin. Owen who became a wool scourer passed way on 1 August 1903 and is buried in Blk 3 Plot 46 Green Island Cemetery.
