i am looking for help in finding my ancestors and their history in alabama and other states. they came from n.c.,s.c, and england, germany, ireland in the 1700's and 1800's to the u. s..they came west to alabama mississippi and points beyond. they are taylors and blacks and others. from southern history, one was baily black, who fought in many campaigns for the confederacy during the civil war and survived. he lived in north western alabama and raised a large family. they in turn also had large families. any information would be helpful in reconstructing my past history. it has also been told that there is indian blood lines connected. since there were not many women in the early days, and native american women were available, many were taken for wives through out the country. probably most americans have some indian background somewhere in their history.there is also a "parson john" taylor who was a gospel preacher and established several churches in alabama and mississippi that i know of and may have established others in other states circa late 1800's.
Do you have a Rachel Black born 1784 in Green County, Tenn. and died March 24, 1860 in Washington County, MO in your family. She was my 7 generation great grandmother. She was married to Nicholas Hays.Sincerely,Terri Hanauer-Brahm
I'm sorry but I do not at this time. However I have not really gotten in to the black side of my family yet. The reason being is that I haven't been in contact with that side of my family very much through the years. I do know that that my grand father was married 3 times and most of his children from his first wife were dead when he married my dads mom the last wife. He was born in 1843 and dissappeared around 1923 soon after his last wife passed away. He out lived all three, he had a total of 12 kids. There is not much information available on the black side of the family. I have found out there is going to be a reunion on the fourth of July and I hope to remedy this problem. I know I have a lot of cousins I have never met. I have lost all contact with my dad's only whole brother. Last time I saw him was in the late sixty's. I do not know if he is still living, if so he will be around 86. If I find out about a Rachel I will let you know. ok. roger
