Este viajó a Chile con su señora e hijas Myriam Elizabeth y Kate , falleciendo a bordo del barco en que trabajaba y es sepultado en Cementerio Disidente de Coquimbo el 11 Enero 1883. Su viuda se volvió a casar con un señor de apellido Brown o algo parecido, radicándose al parecer en EE.UU. Su hija Myriam Elizabeth , ( María Luisa en Chile) se casó con Bartolo Ayala Velásquez y tuvieron 10 hijos, siendo Ana María Ayala Smith mi abuela paterna. He buscado ancestros de John Smith y Ellen Wylie, casados en Inglaterra o Escocia , sin lograr mas antecedentes. Tal vez ud sea parte de mi arbol.
