I have recently discovered that one of my great aunts - Sarah SHEPPARD, married George Daniel AVERY IN 1921.
George's parents were Joseph Daniel AVERY and Annie McLEAN.
My father's family is shrouded in mystery, as Sarah's mother came from Zahle Syria in the late 1880's, and was married to a George TABBAH (or TOBEY).
I am assuming that Sarah's mother (Najeeba TABBAH) left her husband and took up with George Sheppard in Queensland, as Sarah stated on her marriage certificate that she was born in Ingham and her parents names were
George SHEPPARD and Kathleen Jane William LE CASSE.
I know that Najeeba was also known as Kate Sheppard, as I have a copy of her Naturalisation Papers from the National Archives.
Any details on the Avery family would be great.
