Shirley Greenaway Hi Roger
I have been double checking Henry George Weeks married to our ancestor Alice Layton. There are two similar in the Manning district. I believe Alice Layton married Henry George Weeks born in Backwell Somerset in June 27 1854 and died in 1915 (aged 61). He arrived on the "Alfred" with his parents George and Judith (Stokes) in 1857 and sister Emily.

He married Alice Layton in 1893 on Oxley Is and both he and Alice are buried in Scotts Creek Cemetery, Mitchells Is and so are his parents George & Judith Weeks buried there. (Australian Cemeteries).

I checked all this in Mid North Coast Pioneer Register Bk 2 of 1860.

The other Weekes Family (spelt differently) are not related by marriage to Alice Layton.

Just thought it might help as people follow family lines and it gets more confusing.

kind regards

Shirley Greenaway

Roger Mulholland Hi Shirley
Thanks for the info.
I have been confused in trying to sort out the weeks and weekes.
Even the Weekes have NSW BDm entries in name of weeks and probably vice versa.
These connections are on my wifes side and have no ctc with any of her relatives that can help
Will amend my tree.
Thanks again
Can ctc me at rogerjmul@bigpond.com
Cheers

Roger Mulholland Hi Shirley
Have been trying to sort out the weeks/weekes families.
According to my info I agree with you on George and Judith and Henry George and Alice.
However there was also another family emigrated in 1839 on the "Cornwall". They Were Thomas Weeks wife Harriet Beech/Beach and 6 children, sadly one boy and 1 girl died on the voyage. they were listed as Weeks on the ship manifest. Native place shown as Rolvenden.
On NSW bdm's Both George and Thomas show parents as Thomas and Martha.
Thomas had a son James who married Rhoda Stace in 1850 in Hunter/Maitland district. On the BDM marruiage Record he is recorded as James Weekes. They had 8 children 2 boys 6 girls and on NSW BDM's the births are all recorded as Weekes.
Have you any info on this??????????
Cheers
