David Sr. Michael Deshotels The Deshotels family originally immigrated from France, then to Canada and finally settled in Louisiana. It is my goal to determine who started the Deshotels family in Louisiana, then back track our genealogy to the original family in France. I plan to learn where the original family lived in France and determine the spelling of the original family name, then trace all derivations of the Deshotels name. My original research shows the Family Name: Deshotels may have started as Des Autels or Desautels or Desautell. It may have changed to Desotel or Desotels when translated into English after moving to America. There are many Desotels who moved to Iowa; especially Clayton, Iowa, who may be related to the DesAutels in France and Deshotels in Louisiana.
I hope to trace all relatives who are genetically related to the current David Deshotels' Family who live in Louisiana and featured on "David Deshotels Family Tree Web Site"
