My Grandfather and Grandmother are William Joseph and MaryAnne Quirke - nee McNally. On this side of the family there are 8 children.4 children from William Joseph and his first wife Mildred (Millie) Drisdale Quirke - nee Shacklock Mildred died on 12 April 1926 age 35.William Joseph Quirke then married MaryAnne McNally from Straband County Tyrone Northern Ireland and had 4 more children. My father Desmond comes from this 2nd lot of children.
The reason why I started this family tree was that I was getting confused on who was who while listening to GrandParents.Uncles,Aunties and Cousins talking about different families within the Quirke family ring ie.Shacklocks,Fitzgeralds,O'Dea,Cade,Manion. etc.So I decided to do some inquiries and now have 3 folders of each Quirke generation from the first Michael and Mary Ann Quirke to all there sons and daughters and down to there families and even further down to my daughters generation and she is 6 yrs.I know these folders of information I have will get bigger and bigger as time goes by and I hope other family members can fill in gaps which I cannot or if I have made a mistake.
Most of the information I got off the computer ie bringing up the Quirke name finding them by looking up cemetery records,Auckland Musume,NZ Archives, and the NZ Defence Force.I hope this tree will keep on growing so our children's children know who we are and where we come from.
