Can I import a family tree from Ancestry.com?

Yes, if you created a family tree on Ancestry.com or in Family Tree Maker (Ancestry’s family tree software) you can import your family tree.

To import your tree to a family site at MyHeritage, you’ll need a GEDCOM file of the tree. There are plenty of tutorials available on the internet showing how to export a GEDCOM from Ancestry.com or Family Tree Maker.

Once you have the GEDCOM file, you can import it directly to a family site at MyHeritage to create a tree you can edit online, click here for a detailed explanation how to import a GEDCOM to create a family tree you can edit online.

If you’re importing the file into Family Tree Builder, a GEDCOM file isn’t always necessary.

Family Tree Builder can automatically import many family tree file formats including FTM / FTW / FTMB, click here for a detailed explanation how to import a family tree file into Family Tree Builder.
