Jacob Herrell/Harrell 1765-1820 VA

Jacob Herrell/Harrell is my ancestor who was born in 1765 around Campbell County, VA; married Mary Martha Jennings in 1783 in VA; and died in Tuscaloosa Co., AL about 1820.  Their children were:  William b: 1781 (Winnford Jennings) d: 8 Jan 1815 in the Battle of New Orleans;Elizabeth b: 10 Jul 1789 (Thomas Franklin); James b: 1792 (Jane Rush); Martha Patsy b: 1792; Rebecca b: 1797 (Thomas L. Ritch); Rueben b: 12 Sep 1799 (Rachel Woolf) d: 1848 Butler, Bates Co., MO (my line); John b: 1800.

Rueben Herrell and Rachel Woolf (d/o Fielding Woolf and Theodocia Delilia Jennings) were married 27 Nov 1820 in Caldwell Co., KY by her father Fielding Woolf an ordained minister.  Rachel died about 1834-1835 in KY.  Rueben then married Phoebe Bredger Jennings on 5 May 1835.

Rueben and Rachel's children were:  Louvilla/Levina b: 1821 KY; William b: 1822 KY; JOhn b: 1823 KY; James Logan (my line) b: 1824 KY (Lucinda Beaman) d: 1895 Butler, Bates Co., MO; Allen A. Willie b: 1826 KY d: MO; Isaac Middleton b: 1828 ky d: MO; Permelia b: 1831 KY; & Athol Frank b: 1932 KY (Sarah Ann Beaman) d: 1913 MO

I am only interested in Rueben born in Sep 1799, no other Rueben's.  There seems to be alot of Rueben's around durning that time, but I am only interested in this one.  I would also like to find out when the spelling of the last name came about an by whom.  I know that it use to be HARRELL, but somehow got changed to HERRELL, and that how my line spelled it.

Thank you Sonnie..................retiredgophers@aol.com

Hi,  in your info you have Elizabeth married  Thomas Franklin.  She married John Norris and they moved to Tuscaloosa Co. Al about the time her parents did.

There are lots of Harrells in that part of Al and they still spell it that way

Anita,

I am interested in information regarding any or all of the children of Jacob Herrell.

My lineage was from Missouri.  But am interested in the Alabama Herrell's too.

Hi Sonnie,

I read your reply to my note,    I have some info copied  from a book about KY.   It has info on the Harrell and Woolfe families.

Sometime after the first of the year, I will make you a copy and mail it to you by snail mail if you will contact me.   I had a hard time getting the link sent by My Heritage to work.  I had to e-mail it to another account, use part of the address and  hunt for a while before I could find your answer.   If you do not mind, I will give you my private address  pinemtn76@gmail.com so you can contact me.   If this is permissable .  I am an old lady and do not know how a lot of these sites work.

We will be pretty busy the month of Jan, so it may be on into Feb. before I will have time to locate the printed material

My husband is disabled and do not have a lot of free time for genealogy anymore.  Sure do miss being able to research.

 Hope to hear from you.

I forgot to ask about the  info you have   Elizabeth married a Franlkin.     I have she married John Norris and they moved to Tuscaloosa Co. Al. as her parents did.  They are buried in a cemetery above Tuscaloosa.    Did she marry, become a widow and marry John Norris??
