I am seeking birth records for my ancestor, Harriett Jones Clarke. She was born Aug 19 1834 in Charleston, Berkeley, South Carolina. Her parents are supposedly Solomon Clarke and Elizabeth Bochet. I would like to verify that information by obtaining some solid records with this information. Birth records were not kept by the county until after 1900. Would anyone know where I should start? This is the information I have from a compiled genealogy:
Solomon Clarke 16 June 1796 St. Stephen Parish, Berkeley, to 2 Nov 1850 same place
Elizabeth Bochet b. abt 1795 South Carolina to 7 May 1856 St. John Parish (like husband)
It seems a good place to begin would be with the parish, but I have no idea how to go about obtaining those records. Thanks in advance for your help.
