Looking for any information on a Capt. Michael F. McGowan who lived in Manhattan, New York in the 1890's. Michael was born in Ireland in about 1825. He was a retired mariner. There is some evidence that he may have worked on the shipping trade to south america in the 1860's. He was married with children and had a son called John McGowan who was born possibly in New York about 1850. Any help would be much appreciated.
