hi there. my maiden name is faddel. my father was john imre faddel and my mother is joy faddel nee whiteley. i have a brother david john faddel. my father, john had a brother joseph and sisters, one called francess. i believe the family came from italy, possibly sicily. the name was abbreviated when they came to south africa.
I'm also researching South African Faddel's; although I'm not directly related myself, I do have a great aunt who I believe was born Olive Helen Faddel, c.1920 - died 5 Sep. 1979 in Cape Town.
Olive was married to Henry John Sidney Greyling, born 4 April 1920 and died 29 July 1997. They had four children: Daniel John Greyling (born 1941), Peter, Patrica and Linda.
Daniel John Greyling's 1941 baptism was also attended by a Private S.F. Faddel.
It's also believed that Olive had a brother named Richard.
