HISTORY OF THE CARL SAUER FAMILY (as recorded by Ken Sauer, May 2002)

1.       FAMILY BACKGROUND (most compiled by my cousin the late Ron Sauer)

My grandfather, Martin Sauer, born December 13th, 1861 in Satulmare, Bukowina, Romania

married Elizabeth Sahling born December 10th, 1864 in Galizian, Poland had eight children

as follows from the eldest to the youngest (present location given if known):

1.1       William (born 1892) – now deceased; lived in Fox Valley/Kindersley, Sask.

1.2      John  (born 1894) – now deceased; lived in Regina, Sask.

1.3      Frank (born 1896) – now deceased; lived in New Westminster, B.C.

1.4      Elizabeth (born 1898) – now deceased; lived near Kindersley, Sask.

1.5      Carl Sauer (born 1899) – now deceased; lived in Fox Valley, Sask.

1.6      Joseph (born 1902) – now deceased; lived near Kelowna, B.C.

1.7      Anton (Tony) (born 1905) – now deceased; lived in Medicine Hat, AB

1.8      Emily (born 1908) – now deceased; lived in Wells, B.C.

The family emigrated from Romania in 1911, first settling in the area of Southey,

Saskatchewan; later most of the family settled in the Fox Valley area. Bill continued to farm

and do carpentry work in the region, while Carl rented a farm, then moved into the town and

worked in a grocery store, and an Imperial Oil dealership; Tony farmed and did mechanical

work in a garage in Fox Valley, later moving to Medicine Hat where he continued with Beny

 Motors.

Hi my name is Chris and my family is from Southey Saskatchewan. My grandmother was Christina Sauer Triffo. Her father was Edward Sauer. Somehow we are related to Martin Sauer but not to sure yet as we are still finding the sauer family. There is a book called Pioneers and Progress: The hidtory of Southey and District. I plan on purchasing this book. Maybe this will help you locate what you are looking for.
