Rosemary,

Gosh was I happy to see your post!   I have been trying to trace this family since 2004!

Mary Jack Mather was my Grandfathers Aunt and he left me a lot of information on the family which I have followed up in Scotland.   I may even have some old photos of Mary as I do have some that I have been unable to identify.

I look forward to hearing from you

Best Wishes from Scotland

Hi again,

I just want to let you know that I was a only child so I have no family to speak of. Mary Jack my aunt my Dad's sister had 2 girls and 1 boy. Only one girl is still alive but only know she is in Florida. But I am in contact with her ex husband who is in Florida.

Robert Mather McMeekin married late in life he had no children.

I have no idea if Uncle Sandy had any still looking for information.

Something I do know is Uncle Sandy had a hearing problem. My Mom told me he could have gone to Juliedards the music school here. He was that good but he had a hearing problem.

That is one of the reasons I want to find his relatives if he married to find out if he went deaf.

God Bless again.

Hi,

You have given me the best Christmas present anyone could have given me.

I found Alexander (Sandy) Mather McMeekin on the Social Security Death Index  recently. He died in California in 1989.

Yes Yes Yes I want all information you can give me. I know very little about my grandparents they died long before I was born. Mary died in 1931 and John died in 1934 there abouts.

There son my father John Wood McMeekin died in 1990 here in Maine in USA.

I really have little to tell you other then I have found on the Elis Island sight the ship they left Glasgow on in 1910. I really would like to find out the relatives that went to Australis. My Mom told me they went to Sidney area.  There also where some who went to Pennsylvania here in the USA.

I will give you any information I have. I know that my grandfather is English according to the 1910 or the 1920 cencus here.

Honestly my son has looked up McMeekin and it comes up Irish.

Please let me know what you have. All I know about my grandmother she was married to a Finley he died. She had a pub in Edinburgh I think. On my fathers birth certificate it stated that grandpa was a spirit merchant. Yes I have a copy of my Father's orginal birth certificate. Off the top of my head I don't remember when she married my grandfather but it was in Dec..

I am not at home right now so I can not look this up. Will be going home next week.

Send me another message when you can.

Will be anxiously waiting your message.

God Bless you for answering my orginal message.

Rosemary,

It was go nice to get a quick reply from you...what a great Christmas Present!   There is lots I can share with you about the family including photos of Mary's mother and Father Alex & Mary Mather.   I have made connections with all the other family who moved overseas in Australia, Pennsylvania and Canada and some of the relatives have even came over for a visit to Scotland.

I looked also at records after your mail and found quite a bit on Alexander including his death record, Naturalisation record and several passenger records.    I started looking at our family tree in 2004 but havent been near it in the past few years as I was studying for a degree in Genealogy....funny I joked with my family last night saying that the Degree paid off as I was able to find information on the McMeekins!!!

I look forward to chatting with you in the near future and sharing information

Best wishes

Clare
