My grandfather Frank McCall said the McCalls came from the highlands of Scotland. His own great grandfather was a land steward in Longford Ireland around 1800 but remember that the Scots and Irish frequently moved from one country to the other - and elsewhere in the UK.
His grandfather Charles Hartley McCall (McCaul) came to New Zealand in 1845 to fight in the Maori Wars
