I am searching for information on my direct ancestor William B Baird. The only info i have is birth 1832 in Chatham, Kent, England. He maried Charlotte A Sutherland born 1825 Spriddlestone, Devon, England.
My great-great-great-grandfather Charles Bradford Baird was a brother to William Baird who married Charlotte Nowell.
Their parents were James Baird and his wife Lililia, who were both Scottish. James Baird, as a returned soldier (Staff Sergeant) worked at the army hospital at Chatham until he died in 1828.
I have researched this Baird family in the 1990s.
Charles Bradford Baird's son John James Baird migrated to New Zealand in the 1850s, marrying Maraia Lee, daughter of John Lee and Sarah Timu, and establishing a large family in the Southland area.
I've just spotted this one - I am descended from Charlotte's sister Helen (aka Ellen), and I am intrigued by the fact that you say you have tracked Charlotte's parents and grandparents. I have managed her parents, but am now stumped. If you have anything any further back, I would love to know. (Charlotte's daughter Augusta was witness to Helen's marriage in 1862)
