Looking for anyone, that has family that settled in the Ontario area. Orginally this Taggart family came in 1839 settling first in the very new Toronto area, York county. Taylor's Landing, which is near Steetsville, shoreline has changed much since then.

Anyway, Looking for Taggart family.  common names are: James, Edward, William, Isabella, Eliza Margaret, Clarke.

Please, just if you have Taggart family, let me see if they might fit into my tree. I have over 750 memebers listed.

Looking forward to all inquires.

Hold fast and keep on digging.

my taggart family started with James Taggart born 1799 living in cumberland the family origins are from ireland, but as yet have been unable to trace it.  But James born in workington, cumberland, haven't yet researched back over from their, but there are the names James, Charles, William, and Sarah they are his children's names and then they had children finally going from cumberland to northumberland. england.

Hello Angela. I live in Cumberland County of Nova Scotia, Canada. My g-g-grandfather was also named James, and it was always assumed that he came from N.Ireland - Co. Antrim, or perhaps Co. Derry. He arrived in this area - we believe in the mid-1840's since childrens births occur before this date in Ireland and aftr this date in Nova Scotia, He was also bon ca.1800 which ould fit in with your James' year of birth. This is a small rural area, and two Taggart brothers John& Patrick arrived in this area in 1833 and we all assume that James who arrived with grown children and at a much latter date, might have been their older brother - or perhaps an uncle or cousin. James was married to a Mary Stewart (Stuart) and his two eldest sons who were born in Ireland?? were named James & William. Don't know if there is any connect - but the "Cumberland" connection seemed like a intresting coincidence. His other sons born in Nova Scotia ere Rob't & Thomas (my g-grandfather).

Did you trace any family that came to Canada, or were you able to find an Irish connection yet?

Good luck in following the roots of your family tree.  - Wayne
