I know this man migrated from Languedoc to Dorset, England in 1545. I am trying to zero in on where he may have come from. I have discovered that Rives were living in Montaillou, a Cathar village destroyed in 1318 by the Catholic Inquisition. I have also learned that there are many "Rives" locations in both Languedoc of today as well as in Midi Pyrenees. But I have no exact evidence to place Robert Ryves in a specific town or village before he himself went to England in the mid-16th century.
