Looking for any information on Grandfather Bartholomew Shanahan.  Born in Shanagolden in Limerick in 1877.  Served in India and Sth Africa as telegrapher in British Army. He spent 7 years in Army and almost five of them abroad.  He joined the Kinsale Reserve in 1903 and was discharged in 1908 around the time he got married. I believe that he had brothers killed in War - probably WWI or earlier.  May also have had sisters in Ireland.  He married Winifred Ennis of Ballyheyland outside of Portlaoise.  She had five siblings and have some info on Ennis Family.  Any information welcome

I am interested in Mary Shanahan who came to Australia from Ireland. She may have been a convict, or at the very least one of our earliest settlers! I believe she came from Cork Co, although this could be incorrect. Please contact me if you know of any connections to Australia. Other Irish names of interest are Cullen, Neville and Donovan. My email is m.steam@hotmail.com Regards Kim.
