Seeking info on William Clark's ancestors. He was married to Sarah (possibly Coleman). He was born c. 1790 in SC and died after 1859 in AL. Served in War of 1812. Eleven children: Elijah, Aaron, George Nathaniel (Nathan), Jonas A. H., Rebecca, Elizabeth, John, Wealthy, Matthew, Coleman S., William Jr.
I am a Clarke from Edgefield County, SC and my husband has been working on a family tree. Yes, some of us spell it with an 'E" and others in the family do not. I have found a Willam Clark about 1790 but do not have any additional information on that branch. My Clarke came over from Scotland about 1620 -30 to Virginia. There is a library in Edgefield's Genealogy Library with a new book on the Clark family. It has all the Clark-Clarke branches in it. Hope this will help. Al Wilcenski
Thank you so much for your reply to my query about William Clark (yes, some of my Clarks spelled it with an "e" too). I am sorry to be late in replying, but my email has been kaput for a few days and my son just helped me get it going again. I shall check into the Edgefield Genealogy Library holdings to see if there is a connection with my William Clark. Best wishes in your Clarke research.--(Mrs.) Jerry H. Bailey email@example.com
