Searching for information on the parents of Matthew Barnes b1790 in Madison County Ky or Rowan County NC.  He migrated to Pulaski County Ky and married Lettice Richardson.  They had many children one of which was Mary "Polly" Barnes.

Beth, Reading your post I noticed that this may be some in my line of Barnes.  Do you happen to know if Matthew had any brothers.  Somewhere I can recall reading about a Matthew and Abraham coming to Ky from NC, but can not find my papers.  I will throw out some of my great grand parents and see if any ring a bell with you.

My grandfather was William Perry, g-grandfather was Richard Marion, gg-grandfather was William Richard, ggg-grandfather was Abraham and from there on back lots of Richard's and Abraham's.  My e-mail address is rjbarnesjr@windstream.net

Yes,  Matthew did have brothers and sisters.  I do not have my list right now, but I believe Abraham was one of them or maybe an uncle.

Most people say Amos Barnes was Matthew's father and by census records this appears to be true.  I was just looking for some other kind of proof.  Anything!

Beth,

I have that Amos was my gggg-grandfather, married to Ailsey Lunsford.  Amos was born in 1754, and that Abraham was born in 1787 married to Abigail Davis.  William Richard (gg-grandfathe) born 1826 and married to Rachel Farmer.  Richard Marion (g-grandfather) born 1855 and married to Elizabeth Whitaker.  My grandfather William Perry, born 1895 was married to Mary M Bolton.  I took this from Ancestry files and it gets really confusing when you run into so many with the same names.
