I am looking for any information on John Wilson, father of Edward Alfred Wilson and husband of Elizabeth. The story, as passed down through the generations , is that John and Elizabeth either died in a fire in the St. Louis area sometime around 1865 leaving Edward (my great-grandfather) and his brother John orphans, or they died much earlier and Edward and John were placed in the St. Louis Boys School (Catholic) and they ran away when a fire broke out at the orphanage.
Either way, I am trying to track down information on John and Elizabeth. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Edward was in Iowa by 1885.

Amanda - I am not sure...One of the John Wilson's that I am looking for was the father of my great-grandfather Edward and married to Elizabeth. Edward had an older brother named John and that is all that I know. Rumor had it that John and Elizabeth either died in a St. Louis area fire leaving the boys as orphans or that John and Elizabeth died, left the boys as orphans and then the orphanage burned down.
