Hello!  I am doing some research on the Creighton family from Mt Thom, Nova Scotia.  My gggrandfather was Andrew Creighton who was married to Sarah Smith.  His father was Samuel Creighton on whom I have not been able to find any info.

Just wondering if anyone may have come across this line of the Creightons.

Thank you.

 Jane

Hi Sarah,

Do you know where your gggrandfather, Andrew, originally came from.  I have Creighton's in my family, My grandfather was Michael Creighton from Roscommon, Ireland but I believe his family ancestors came from Scotland.

Hope to hear from you

Hi, I believe that Samuel Creighton was born in Dumfries, Scotland.  I know that his son Andrew gave him money to purchase land for him in Pictou, Nova Scotia.  I have found Samuel listed as coming to Nova Scotia in 1823.  My gggrandfather Andrew was born in Dumfries c. 1802.  Andrew settled in Mt Thom and married Sarah Smith, daughter of Donald W Smith and Jennet McIntosh. I believe that Andrew had sisters named Agnes (married John Oliver), Margaret (married Mathew Allan) and Jane (married David McKenzie).  I don't know whether Samuel had any other children.
