He married Mary Bruce (daughter of John Bruce & Betsy Kerr) and had children named Elizabeth, Archibald, Margaret, Rachel, Janet, Georgina, Marion, Jane, John & Marjorie. It is known that Rachel and Janet at least immigrated to Australia around or before 1878.
