I am researching the Simpson family in North Yorkshire UK. This is what I have so far
Robert & Elizabeth (Betsey) Simpson nee Leppington married at Seamer 7th May 1831
The 1841 census shows that at that time Robert & Betsey Simpson had six children:- ...
Dianah
born 1832
Lance
born 1833
Moses
born 1835 Died 1844
Edward
born 1837
Jane
born 1839
Mary
born 1841
Robert was just 43 years old when he died at Seamer in 1849. He was buried at Seamer on 15th November 1849
In the 1851 census, Betsey, 37 years old and a widow, was living in High Street, Seamer, with her children, who were:-
Mary
born 1841
Eliza
born 15th September 1842
Sarah
born 1845
Margaret
born 1846 Died 1852
Moses
born 1849
Martha
born 1849
All of them were born at Seamer.
On the 20th March 1862 ELIZA SIMPSON gave birth to a son, Harry, at home in Seamer.
The identity of the father is not known, but the child was christened Simpson.
Eliza married SAMSON BELLCHAMBERS (born 1846 at Caterham, Surrey) at Scarborough in 1868
It would seem that before 1869 Eliza had moved to Surrey with her husband Samson, leaving her child Harry Simpson to be brought up by her mother Elizabeth (Betsey) Simpson.
(The 1881 census shows Eliza & Samson living at Harveys Lane, Morrisons Lodge, Thorpe, Next Norwich, Norfolk with their family of seven children, the first three born at Caterham, Surrey & the last four born at Mulbarton, Norfolk)
Betsey was still living in Seamer in 1871. Her grandson Harry Simpson (born 1862) was living with her.
If anyone can add anything it would be much appreciated
