i have a john sullivan born in the teens to james j sullivan and nora reardon, but he was not mearchant marine.if you cotact the coast guard they may be able to give you his social security #.the z cards issued in at least the last twenty years the z# is the same as the social security #.concentrations of sullivans were in boston and fall river mass.i know from family stories i have relatives in fall river but have not been able to find them.my john sullivan was not a jr. and after the war he drove a taxi for a while. they lived in the brighton section of boston
Thanks for reply, I will keep trying. I kinda lost my appeal with the Coast Guard about tfive years ago, something to do with Freedom Information act 1964, I have been corresponing with them since I was 17, but to no avail. I know he worked for Watersman Shipping Co in Alabama in the 50/60's then I think went to the West Coast for Tini Shipping Co.
have you tried the west coast seamen's union? the are very reluctant to give out information on their members, but if you can convince them you are not looking for him for any wrong doing or money you might get somewhere.they might be able to tell you where his last pension check wen't. it may take a while if they even answer you.
