Thank you for you response. i have looked at link and found some relevant info. Shame that there is no info on her parents/originas and/emigration to Seychelles.
i haev been debating whether to join ancestry.co.uk but its already difficult enough for me to put enough money together to pay for the Heritage subscription - my family unfortunatly are happy to be site members but not keen on making financial contributions to update and maintain site.
If you have any more information about Charlotte, i would be grateful to hear more.
Charlette Zoe is on my family tree, no relation though.
Her granddaughter Marie Labroche was the first wife of my great grandfather, Charles Isaaï (Jolicoeur) Vel.
I can't tell you much about Charlotte Zoe, other than that I think she probably left Mauritius between 1817 and 1826, and that she'd had a change of fortune.
have you been in touc h with Sylvia Binhc- Talma? she is compilling a list of all Talma's from around the world.
She has a reference to Berthe Talma born 1883 in Seychelles (ATTACHED)
while i am not related to that Talma, i may be indirectly related to Charlette Zoe who supposedly had a brother (Victor, my great- great-great-great-great grandfather) and sister Laurencia Flippenta Zoe
Yes, Alfred Labroche and Charlette Hyppolite were the parents of Marie Labroche.
I wasn't able to find any information on Marie at the Archives in Victoria, wether or not she re married or had any children.
My great grandfather, Charles Vel married again in London in 1903.
There was another Charles Vel who arrived in the UK around the same time as him, he was also from Seychelles.
I have often wondered if he might be the son of my g-grandfather from his marriiage to Marie Labroche, as his birthdate 1873 corresponds to the year they were married. I also have some letters to my g-grandfather from his nephew in Seychelles that has a reference to my g-grandfathers son Charles ?
You should also have a look at the rest of Henri Maurels web site, a lot of information on Mauritius. Also have a look at , www.geneanet.org for both Mauritius and Seychelles families.
Re. Sylvia Binch.
Yes I did have some contact with her a few years ago.
