No I do not use Ancestry but I have heard many people say they like it. I just started My Heritage a few weeks ago. I got interested because of the free FTB download and then I upgraded to Premium. I beginning to think I shoud have invested in Ancestry instead. How do you think they compare?
I realize "McKinney" is probably a very common name but I feel the first names of "Noah" and "Myles" make these two people not so common.
Any opinions, suggestions or real info would be appreciated. Trying to help my wife get started with her TREE.
There are numerous people researching your McKinney's. I enjoy Ancestry because of the incredible amount of information available both from original source information i.e. census records, draft cards, town directories etc AND from other families that have publicly published their info. Of course, it is best to try and verify user-input information.
With that said, I can provide you the information published along with numerous census records for Noah's family.
Noah L. McKinney born 19 April 1959 in West Virginia to Joseph McKinney.( Joseph born 1829 in Virginia ) and Judith (Judy) Mowery or Malory born 1833. Joseph and Judy were married 28 Aug 1849.
Joseph and Judy appear on the 1850 census in Virginia.District 22, Harrison, Virginia
Joseph McKinney born 1829 in Virginia; Judy McKinney born 1833 in Virginia. His occupation is farmer.

Joseph 40, Juda 37, Martha 17, Floyd, 15, Amaziah 13, Noah 12, Joseph 7, Elizabeth 4, Mary 1...Their last name is spelled Mc Kinney.
The family is also found in the 1880 census in West Union, Doddridge, West Virginia Joseph 15; Judith 49; A McKinney 23; NL (your Noah) age 21; Jos McKinney 19; E McKinney 15; Mary McKinney 12; Charter McKinney 8. Joseph was born in Virginia; both of his parents were born Virginia. The same for Judith.
Joseph and Judith are still living in West Union, Doddrige, with their daughter Elizabeth Hyde and her son, Ira Hyde.
Joseph McKinney is the son of Thomas McKinney Oct 1772 Loudon, Virginia and died 22 NOv 1856 in Philippi, Barbour, West Virginia. His mother was Catherine Hoff born about 1796. Thomas was married prior to marrying Catherine but they were married 28 July 1816 in Loudon, Virginia. The marriage record for Thomas and Catherine is recorded in the Virginia Marriages 1740-1850. Thomas first marriage is recorded in the US and International Marriage record 1560-1900. This gives Thomas's date and location of birth.
Many of these trees then list Noah's marriage to Alberta Russell. They show two children born to them Raymond Russell (1893-1963) and Myles Stanley (1898-1975)
There is a lot of information about this line...including the siblings of Noah. If you would like to send me your direct email I can forward it to several of the tree owners.
