Looking for info on the family of A. J. Howell who married Minnie Moore in Leake Cty, Ms. in abt. 1884.  Children were; Andrew, Wiley William, Elzie Vestor, Samuel, and possibly one girl, Martha.  After 1918 family moved to Bolivar Cty, Ms. with no father(A.J.) listed with them.  Anyone heard of A.J. Howell?  Thanks!

I married into the Howell family from Enterprise, Alabama and have a lot of their family history.  I located the following information on this messageboard  http://genforum.genealogy.com/howell/messages/766.html

A.J. Howell married Minnie Moore 5/8/1884. They had 4 sons, Andrew, Wiley, Elzie, Samuel. Marriage took place in Leake county MS. Elzie was born in Leake County MS about 1998. Trying to find information on any of the above. Does the A J stand for Andrew Jackson? where was he born? and when? Any information on the four sons? What happened to them?
Correction on date: Elzie was born about 1898. He later married Mary Ludie Kuykendall and appears with her on the 1920 Census for Bolivar county MS.

He may have died about 1934 near Merigold MS. Any information appreciated.

It might not be of any help, but my maiden name is Howell and I lived in Cleveland, just a few miles from Merigold. There were four Howell families in Bolivar County about that time. You might have some luck checking the Bolivar County census.

I hope this helps

Hi, thanks for your efforts .  The Charlotte Harkey in the post is my sister.  She has long since stopped  researching the family history. I, on the other hand, still look for this elusive family segment.  Again, thank you.

How uncanny could it get.  I am not one to give up either.  I will keep looking.  As many people as there are researching the different sets of Howell's SOMEBODY has to know the answer.

LOL!  There were a number of HOWELL'S in both my Mom and Dad's side.My Dad's side was wealthy land owners so they're fairly well documented. The A.J. Howell in the original post was my GGrandfather The last I found for him was a census in 1890's, then it was just Molly and the children moving on to Bolivar Cty, Ms. I've run out of places I can look but Ancestry is adding records every day it seems so I'm hoping he will pop up one day.

I've thought about doing an EVP session like the guys on "Ghosthunters" just to see if an ancestor might pop up and tell me what happened to A. J. Howell!! LOL!  And I'm only half kidding. Well, keep in touch!  Maybe we can help each other some day. Have a good week-end.
