Has anybody been able to printout the Genealogy after inputting data using the software? When I go under FILE and PRINT it allows me to only do a PRINT SETUP only. Is the software missing a component to be able to print hard copy. I really hoped to get a printout to share to family that don't have access to a computer or internet. Please advise. I tried emailing to the MYHERITAGE people already but no response as of today. Thanks!
Sorry to have missed your post about printing, it was misplaced in the Honolulu message board instead of being placed in a more appropriate location. Anyway, printing has been a weak spot of the early versions of Family Tree Builder and the main reason we labeled it as beta. In the latest version released a few days ago, 188.8.131.524, you can create reports and print them. You can also use that version to create an online family site and publish your family tree to it, and there you'll find several HTML-based reports (like descendents and ancestors) that can be printed right from the browser. To upgrade to version 184.108.40.2064, open your Family Tree Builder and select 'Check for updates' from the Tools menu. You will be informed about the latest version available and have the option of upgrading to it right away. Please note that printing in this version is still not perfect but this will be one of the focal points in our next versions, since it's the key area where the product is currently lacking. I read your post this morning. I don't know if you got an answer to your question or not, but, I will say this...the staff at MyHeritage.com hasn't exactly been forthcoming with information. I also emailed them with an issue several days ago, and would have been satisfied with a note back that they received the "bug report" I submitted and were working to address the issue. But instead, my e mail just vanished into cyber-space, never to be seen again.
It seems to me that the staff at MyHeritage.com has a pretty good thing going...now if they only cared about the people they claim to be trying to help.
Folks, just respond to us, and address our issues, would you? I'm willing to give it a bit longer, maybe another week, but, if I haven't seen any response by then, I'm just going to export my GEDCOM file and import it into PAF or some other competing product. I certainly don't want to put so much work into something and have the software program I'm using be abandon by the development group, and never even know it.
As far as reporting goes, look up a software package (shareware) called "The Complete Genealogy Reporter". It's $25 to register, but free to try. It's a stunning piece of software, and the SUPPORT (hint to you, MyHeritage.com) has been FANTASTIC. I emailed them with a bug report and they not only ackknowledged my email report, but issued an updated version to deal with the problem of my MyHeritage.com exported GEDCOM file, live and online, in less than TWELVE hours, AND wrote me back to tell me it had been fixed and was the new version was live and online.
Sorry for that. We admit -- our support has been lacking and we're out to improve this. Initially when we had a small number of users each of them received royal same-day support but this has become more difficult to provide with our product being free and with 50,000 new users signing up on our site every day. Still, this is no excuse for poor support. To answer your question, we've added printing options in the latest version220.127.116.114 (which you can upgrade using the 'Tools>Check for updates' option in your Family Tree Builder). They are not perfect but a step in the right direction. In the next version we will focus on reporting and printing and more options will become available, with far less bugs.
