I hold patial information on 3 generations of my Alexander family , all apparently born in Ireland. The earliest record is of the death of my 2 x G. Grandfather John Alexander in March 1860 at the age of 75. He was a tailor by profession and he worked and died in Strabane, Co, Tyrone (Now part of Northern Ireland). He had a son  John who continued in the trade of tailoring in Strabane.
