I am looking for the parents of Alfred John Keeler (b 1844) from London, England. Alfred was the son of successful merchants of silk and other fabrics. His brother owned a ship and imported these from the East. Alfred left the UK in 1864 end emmigrated to South Africa where he met Cecil John Rhodes, and was inspired to try his luck with diamond prospecting. He married Margaret Gill (24 Dec 1881). He moved from Barberton to Durban where he died in 1913.

 Alfred is my great-great-grandfather.
