My grandmother Catherine Hurley travelled to Boston ? in 1921? aged 17, from Queenstown (Cobh) Co. Cork. She may have travelled with Michael and Margaret Murphy, Tralee.
She told me that she worked in a priest's house and used to shop in a Jewish neighbourhood on a Monday.
She returned to Ireland and married my grandfather in 1938
The Hurley's you are looking for mught be related to the Hurleys from my family Tree. James Hurley born 1810 in Ireland moved to Greenbrier, Blue Sulfur, Summer County, West Va. and had many children. One of them was my great grandmother, Bridget Catherine and she married Joseph Dick.
Are you familiar with this family?
My relatives also lives in Beckley, Hinton......Peewee Holler?
I am looking for Hurleys and anyone that knows about Woodrow and his father Lark Hurley!! Email me 2 montcalm_gurl@yahoo.com
My great grandmother was Bridget Catherine Hurley-Dick from Summers County, West Virginia. I too am looking for my heritage. Her parents were James Hurley from Ireland born abt.1810 and died after 1890 in I think West Virginia. I found a will from him that it was in Green Sulfur, Suumers, WVa. His wife was Nora McGuire also born in Ireland around 1810 and I am not sure when she passed away.
Bridget had 2 sisters: Nora and Mary and 2 brother: William and Michael.
From what I have found on Ancestry.com. James Hurley was married 6 times! But I am not sure if that is accurate since his children from different wifes show their birthdate years the sae as other children....... How can that be?
