I live in Queensland, Australia and with several cousins both in Australia and Yorkshire, England, I am researching the ancestors of my maternal grandfather. He was Joseph Humphries, born in Ardley, Oxfordshire on 27/3/1872.
Joseph celebrated his 16th birthday on board the vessel SS MERKARA when he and his older sister Jane migrated to Australia. They left Gravesend on 7/2/1888 and landed at Maryborough, Queensland on 4/4/1888.
