I am looking for a women by the name of Hattie Hobbs, she was married to William R. Hasty. I was just wondering if you might have some information about her? I sure would appreciate it. I am really stuck beacause I am stuck. Thank you for your help.
I also have Hobbs in my family. They used the alias Hobbs and 5 different names.
They are Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Cherokee.
These Hobbs came to Texas when Texas was Mexico and they had several wives.
My hobbs was wanted by the U.S. and the Texas Republic so he kept changing his name , especialy when the American Indian Holocaust was happening.
They say you know your Indian if your family just suddenly apears in paper work.
Natives did not use paper documents , it was all oral tradition. When the Europeans came over that it when we got documented.
Not all Native Americans went on reservations or concentration camps , many of them just changed their names and lived in the same areas as the europeans.
So not all Native Americans are on Rolls nor do they have their "indian cards" that only aplies to consentration camp survivors and reservation survivors.
And it does not mean anyone is less indian without a card, it just means that those survived free from the consentration camps.
