I am searching for the birth of John HALLETT, d. 1874, Soddy-Daisy Tennessee. Some sources indicate John was born in Manchester, England about 1804.
John was married to Caroline CAPLE/CABLE. The couple immigrated to the United States sometime in the 1850's. It is believed the couple had 14 children, although the connection to some of the children has been disputed.
I am interested in connecting with anyone who may have more information on John Hallett's birth and family.
Hi! My husband is from a long line of HALLETT's - the first born in the Manchester area of England were in the 1840's. Prior to this most were from the south, predominantly Devon. Some Hallett ancestors emigrated to Milwaukee, USA - Harry & Matilda Hallett emigrated to NY, USA in 1922- their three youngest sons Harry, Vincent & Frederic were all born in USA. Perhaps there is a connection somewhere, but it is not apparent at present.
That said, I cannot locate a birth of John Hallett around 1804, nor a marriage of a John Hallett to Caroline Cable/Caple in any area of England in the early 1800's! Do you have any other information that could shed light on his origins?
Hello Anna! Apologies for not responding to this before now. Since writing the query, I have learned that John and Caroline were married in Monmouthshire, Wales. I have located their marriage record but cannot seem to find them on the 1840 Census.
The death information I have located for John Hallett indicates he was born 15 January 1804 in Manchester, England. I wish I had more to give you. Please let me know if you encounter anything further on the John Hallett/Caroline Caple (Capel) family. Thank you again for responding.
