Looking for anyone who may be researching Sarah/ Sallie Gregory, daughter of John and Margaret Lipham Gregory of Union South Carolina. Sarah was born 1784 and supposedly married another Gregory, which, if true, may be the reason she has been so difficult to find record of. It is known from early records that she had at least one son by 1811, by the name of Thomas. She is known by record to have requested that land left her by her father in his will be given to this son, Thomas. My possible connection would be my ggggrandmother, Jane Gregory Stalnaker, b. Jan. 1, 1817 in South Carolina. It is possible that Jane is the daughter of Sarah/Sallie and unknown spouse, if, in fact, he was a Gregory. Jane named her children by names that would match family names of Sarah/Sallie. For example, John, William, Sarah and Jesse. Sarah also had a sister, Jane, which could be who my ggggrandmother was named for and Jane may have named one of her daughters for her mother. We believe that Jane had a sister, Catherine, who also married a Stalnaker. Jane and her husband John Stalnaker, both of whom were born in SC, moved to Alabama by 1835-1843 when they were married.
Surely someone else is researching a Gregory that has been illusive and this Sarah/Sallie could be the connection. I would love to explore the possibilities with anyone who may have a lost Gregory. I look forward to hearing from that someone!Rhonda
