Hello, I am working on my son's family tree on his father's side. I've hit a lot of walls. His grandfather was EDWARD GILLESPIE, no middle name. He was possibly-probably born in Scotland, served in World War I in England. He then immigrated to Canada. I can find no ship manifest for him, so do not know when exactly. He married MARJORIE HARRIS in Cardston Alberta Canada in 1941. He passed away in 1975. Any help would be appreciated!
Hi, everybody. Bridget Gillespie (1852-1883), was my great-grandfather's first wife. His name was Michael Francis Higgins (1854-1921). Michael and Bridget were married in Hudson, NY on May 12, 1872. Their son John was born two months later, in July 1872.
Bridget had a sister named Catherine who married Charles McDermott. They had a daughter, Maria, born September, 1874. The 1880 census shows Maria living with Michael and Bridget Higgins; I don't know why.
Two years after Bridget's death, Michael Higgins married again, this time to Annie Keyes, my great-grandmother. They had six children, three of whom survived, and the second of these children was my grandfather, Edward Lawrence Higgins.
If anyone is connected to Bridget Gillespie and her family, I'd love to hear from you. I would love to find photographs of Bridget and Michael when they were young, so if you have such photos or if you have any other family records or documents, I'd love to obtain copies. Thanks. -- Clare Higgins
