i am looking for information on ancestors of mine, william smith a sugar planter, his wife mary whitehill and their daughter jane (also called jean) born sometime about 1820/1830 in Dominica. jean turns up in scotland in 1854 getting married to james guthrie. i have no idea when she came to scotland, if her family were scottish or anything about their births etc. any help would be much appreciated. i should mention there was a famous sugar planter in dominica also called william smith just to confuse things but i am fairly sure he is not my william as wife's name does not fit.
I am trying to find the descendents/relatives of Matilda Joseph and Eden Boyd, of Dominica. Matilda was was born in Martinique, but migrated to Dominica later on. There is a connection with Lawrence Boyd, who wrote a book based on the family.
I am a decendant of william Boyd. The Boyds' in Dominica are white by ancertry and have colour but not black. So if your Boyd 's are white there most likely can be a connection also when are the dates of your Boyds'.
That would be helpfull.
My email is headlless69@ hotmail.com
My cousin does a lot of geneology an perhaps we may find a connection. There is a little info in wikipedia on the Boyd's there. Check families of Dominica.
