hi looking for family or info on a harry or henry byrd.he lived in st.louis in 1944-45..he joined the military out of st. louis missouri in 1944-45..he is my mothers father and they have never met..her mother died when she was one so we have no more info than that..thank you for any info or advice you can give.
I am trying to help my husband find his family roots. Surname is Reed but with lots of Byrd relatives.
George Byrd was the first marriage for his Grandma "Liz" Cole- Maggie (or Mary, Margaret) Elizabeth Cole who died June 2, 1969. I know no info on George other than he has family ties to the Byrd Cemetary ownership in Alabama.
Children were
Ella who married Henry Bass and had 3 boys and 1 girl
Jane (died abt 1996) who married Joe Patrick "Joe-Mac" with whom he had 2 girs and 2 boys,
Bessie (died in California) who married Nedham (Needham) Reed-Liz's second husband -to -be's brother,
and Henry Brook(s) Byrd (Died abt 1990-91) who married 2-3 times-one wife was Nancy Taylor with whom he had 3 boys and one was Minnie Byrd (no relation)-they had 1 boy.
I have a little more children info on this line if you need it. This family is very hard to trace due to some of it's Mowa-Choctaw roots in Alabama. Indians did not keep records like we do today. Also, a lot of the tribe were classified wrongly as African American way back because there is some Cajin Mallada mixtures. This makes the band State recognized, but extinct thru reclassification. Back then you were either black or white, and if classified black, you had very little to no rights. So records are very hard to find.
I am looking to find my fathers family line. His name is James E. Wood, His Mother maiden name was Willa Mae or Willamena Byrd. Any information would be welcomed. Thank You,,, Good luck in your search....
