Hi, I am searching for info on an Alexander Dewar who married a McGregor. Her brother was Gregor McGregor who fought in the British army during the American Revolution. Gregor settled first in Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada and then moved with his family to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. Alexander Dewar's son, John, (and Gregor's nephew) emigrated to Pictou, Nova Scotia, between 1801 and 1803. He married Rebecca McDonald. Her sister, Isabella Morris McDonald, was married to Gregor McGregor.
I understand that John Dewar was from the Loch Tay, Breadalbane area in Perth.
I am seeking info on my branch of the Conacher family. I am a descendent of Donald Conacher born in Dowally Perth Scotland in 1809. He married Isabell McLaren Dec 6 1831. From the information I have Donald's parents were Mungo (born about 1774) and Christian (Keir) Conacher (born about 1781). I downloaded some information about the Conacher's in general and in looking through the message boards I found the same information given for another family name, "Connerty", is there a connection between the two names?
trying to find a bit of history on Mary Hay from Devon who married John Richardson the 13th Baron of Pitfour in Perth. She was born circa early 1800's and died in 1886. They had 6 children. Mary Louisa, Elizabeth Charlotte, Sir James Thomas, Henry Gresham, John Ramsay, and Edmund Robert. Thanks
