I am looking for info on my great grandfather Johnson Joshua Brooks born abt 1810 according to the census reports SC or NC but on one of his son's death certificates it states born in Ireland. came here to SC or NC. married to Margaret McSwain in 1836 in Washington cty, ga. they were one of the first families to settle in Worth County, ga.
They both probably died after 1870 in worth county, ga they were on the 1870 census reports but was not on the 1880 census.
I am trying to find out some info on my great-great grandfather, Anderson Brooks. All the info I know is from an 1880 Federal Cencus in Hamilton County, TN. In 1880, he was around 60 which would put his birth in 1819 or 1820. He married the mother of my great grandfather about 4 years before and in 1880, had 3 kids, all under 3. With him being 60 with a young family, this makes me think he was probably married previously. I cannot find any more info. The cencus said he was born in NC, but other cencuses of his decentants say he was born in TN. There is a possibility that he could have been born in the State of Franklin which was once part of NC and is now part of TN. Does anyone have any info on this Anderson Brooks? I have been working on this for a couple of years with no result. Any help, hints or suggestions are welcomed! Thanks so much!

Searching for information on Horace Lester Brooks; before 1929 or so when he married my grandmother Elsie Page. Understand was married twice before. I know I have relatives from one of these. He had 2 sons named Robert in two marriages. The 2nd was my father, He hated being "little Bob; or Bobby" . Stories, etc, love to see how they compare to the whoppers my Dad told!!

Sorry I don't recognize your Grandfather's name. Not that means much, as I am finding it difficult to find info on Horace BEFORE he married my grandmother . Horace was from Maine; one family is there. He lived in NH with my grandmother.
His Father, Tholmena Brooks, b. Steuben, ME, 10/25/1853 Married Mary Elthea Day on 1/28/1885 in Macias,ME. They had 5 children. I just don't have all their names because when I started I didn't add in other family members.
