Rogerus Lockwood b. 1390 in Lockwood, Staffordshire, England; d. 1450 in Lockwood, Staffordshire, England. He has a son named Ranulph Lockwood. Does it sound familiar to anyone? Let me know!
I am researching my Grandfather Harry Leese, he was married to Sarah Harrison in 1912 at Hillington Church Stoke on Trent, he gives his fathers name on the marriage certificate as George, .a stage carpenter, but as yet have found no trace of the family at all until Harry married Sarah.
I have just spotted this site and decided to join. I saw your query and had a look around.
I was pretty confident that there is no such Church as Hillington Stoke-on-Trent.
I live about 25 miles away and have never heard of it.
I think I have discovered the family in the 1901 census, and they live in the Ecclesiastical Parish of WELLINGTON, Stoke-on-Trent. The family names are all OK, but I suspect George changed his occupation between 1901 and 1912 because he is a Pottery Worker in 1901.
Do you have any further information from the certificate such as age and residence at time of marriage for Harry?
Also could it be Henry or does he have any other names, initials on the marriage certificate?
I am happy to help look if i have these details!
best wishes
Matt
