I’m trying to find information on a James Begley who was born in Scotland abt 1837.His parents were John Begley and Isabel McArthur his siblings were John, Alexander (his twin) and Archibald and Neil (died as infant 3m).We have been able to trace John and Alexander to Canada and have found a lot of information on them.We also have confirmed/locate some information John Sr., his wife Isabel and son Archibald however we have this one missing link James Begley. On a poor house application for Isabel after her husband died she indicates that her sons John, Alexander and James were all soldiers they enlisted so they wouldn’t starve.Archibald didn’t enlist so I guess he was too young, Archibald died in 1869 at age 27.Since we know what happen to John, Archibald and Alexander we need only to confirm what happen to James Begley.If anyone has information on James Begley born 1837 in Scotland, twin of Alexander Begley I would appreciate hearing from you.ThanksDonna

I don't have any infor for sure for you. But I'm in touch with someone else who is searching same family. And it may be the same Begley family I am searching. My mother was a Begley. Her grandfather was a John Begley who went from Ireland to Glasgow Scot. and later shows up in Brooklyn. His son Frank (possibly James Francis) was my grandfather. (sisters Louisa and Elizabeth("Eva'). Problem is my John Begley ran away from his family when he left Scotland. My mother said he wanted to get intouch with his family again but no one knew how. My mother was born in 1905,btw. We may be searching same family. I want to find the family that my great-grandfather John ran away from. I would like to find relatives now for his sake.
No the Sr. John who was married to Isabel McArthur died in Scotland and is buried there with his infant son Neil. The other John my GG-Grandfather died here in Canada 17 May 1901. Is the person you in contact with Karen? because I'm in contact with a Karen who is connected to me through two different family members her connection is with Alexander the brother of John from what have figured out James and Alexander are twins. I have always thought that James must have been using a different name maybe his middle name so it wouldn't surprise me if he would have used the name Frank also I had wondered if he had moved to the USA since we were able to find out so much about John and Alexander but nothing on James, Karen just found out not that long ago what happen to Archiblad the younger brother he died very yonge.
