I have an ancestor Richard Alleyn sr, born in England. I would like to know if anyone has anything on their (Alleyn's) connection with Clan MacFarlane in Scotland.
Richard Alleyn b: 1580 in England d: 1621 in England, he is my 10th great grandfather on my paternal side.
Why I am looking for a connection is that I was told by a friend about "MacFarlane's Lantern". He was a MacFarlane, and when I joked with him about it he informed me that two MacFarlane's "broke off" from the Clan and changed their name to Allen (which ever spelling it was at that time). My husband (who is from Scotland) informed me that several families from Ireland/Wales/England could have went into Scotland and joined the Clan due to fighting or whatever other reason, and my line could have done this.
I know that my family, either maternal or paternal, is related to MacFarlane's because there is one name in a book my maternal grandmother has that is MacFarlane. But I have not been able to find the connection because I am missing some information.
