Im new at this and have no clue where to begin, anyway im trying to find out some information on my great grandpa (Charles L Sidell sr.) where do i begin. family is no help.
The way i did it was got my brothers,sister and parents to see how far they could go, then i got help from the grandparents and i got back prety far, im now in the proccess of a more 'in-depth' reasearch.Hope this helps a bit.

On the left you choose what kind of help and then click the letter of the alphabet. I've learned a lot just by browsing to see what's there.
Try a wild card search on any of the websites you can access. Start by leaving out the "le" in the name--that's the syllable most likely to drop in translation. So, for example, if you search Cze*niewski you'll get a lot more hits, and maybe a hint of where to go with it. If you know as little as a country where anyone with that name lived, it gives you a better shot at narrowing it down once you get your initial responses. I have ancestors with the simplest names that were just MANGLED by census takers, lol. Good luck!
