I just started on MyHeritage and have about 100 entries on our family tree going back to Blaine Burcham born late 1880's. Looking to contact other Burchams and Hanks to develop this tree. Should be in DE, Virginia, Indianna, Iowa, Texas, CA, among others. Please contact me here if you can add to our info; Burcham family site. Thanx. Jim
Leonard Mills was my husband's grandfather he passed away in 2006. We are trying to put together a complete family tree for our daughter and are having problems finding things on my husbands side of the family.
I'm not sure what info you have but I did a little digging. Was he born 10 Dec 1912 and died 10 Feb 2006 in Manchester? IF this is your Leonard. Then his mother was Nellie Smith per the Kentucky Birth Index. I located the family in the 1920 census living in Goose Rock, Clay County. His mother is Nellie and his father is Lucas Mills. Leonard has siblings: Prudie, Elcie and Jeff. They are farmers.
In the 1930 census the father is listed as John L Mills married to Nellie. Now children are listed as Leonard, Elsie, Jeff, Haynes, Tolman and Elvy. It shows they were married when John was 18 and Nellie 13.
John Lucas Mills was born about 1887/1889 according to the census records. I located his WWI draft card and it is written Lucas Mills with John written over the top....as if an after thought. It appears he did go by Lucas. He states he has a wife and 3 children to support...this coincides with his children in the 1920 census. His date of birth is 21 Jan 1887 born in Brightshade, Kentucky.
I was then able to find his family in the 1900 census. Lucas's father is Jefferson Mills. His mother is Mary J Mills. This is definitely his family...in both the 1920 and 1930 census Lucas is living right next door to the Farmer (yes that is his first name) Mills family. Farmer is listed as Lucas's older brother on this 1900 census.
Jefferson was born May of 1854 in Kentucky. Both his parents were born in Kentucky. He married his wife in 1879. They are living in Otter Creek, Clay, Kentucky. Mary was born in 1856 in Kentucky. Her father was born in Tennesse and her mother was born in Kentucky.
I just found a couple of public trees that have Jefferson's wife Mary...as Mary Jordan. Jefferson died 14 Feb 1925 in Bright Shade, Kentucky. Mary was born 12 Sept 1861 in Knox, Kentucky and died 18 Feb 1939 in Mills Creek.
Jefferson was the son of James Mills and Nancy Smith. I found the family in the 1860 census. James and Nancy with baby Jefferson.
I hope this is helps. I'd be happy to pass your direct email to the owner of these trees so you could share information.
Thank you so much. The person you found is the right Leonard Mills. I would love to get in touch with the owners of the other trees. I truly appriciate the help.
