Her name is Matilda Kadunc. She was from Ljubljana, Slovenia (Yugoslavia). Born February 9, 1901 and Died May 16, 1946. She married John Rejc on October 25, 1924. John was born November 13, 1902 and Died February 4, 1989. My family thinks that Matilda was an orphan, but we don't know if it is true or not. We can't find any information on her family anywhere. So if you have any information it would be much appreciated if you could share it with me.
I am Matilda's grandson. She passed away when my father was seven years old. Recently my father related a story about her and my grandfather. She was hired by my great grandfather as a cook from the old country to feed the crew that worked the family farm. My grandfather 'took a shine to her', they eloped, moved to Michigan raised a family. Great Grandad was angry that his son left and took his cook, however they did visit when my father was small child, probably a few years before she died. I don't know anything about her being an orphan, sorry.
