Looking for the decendents of the 3 brothers (Sibilants) fom in Marsialle in France in 1800's. Believe one went to Mauritius, one to South Africa and one went to Australia. Though have heard one may have ended up on St Helene.
John O'Brien came to Aust C1860/70 He Married Annie Moloney October 1873 Maryborough Qld Australia .He gave his age as 26 yrs. .Annie Died 02/09/1885 he remarried, 2nd Wife Catherine Reid known as Kate they had 2 son's 1st child dies, that leaves 1 son John Henry Percy O'Brien 2 daughter's from his first wife( Katherine Gertrude and My Grandmother Mary Cecilia OBrien )At this stage Mary was being cared for by a Brother Simon O,Brien who then marries and Mary was then sent to an orphanage as the wives of the brother's did not want Mary her Father then disappears. I have spent a good deal of time trying to find this father and grandfather,and my gt.gt. grandfather .I have searched all the death cert. for Australia with no success.spent Hour's in the Qld Archives I could only find him in Maryborough on the Electoral rolls. His second christen name was Thomas but he never used it.His brother Simon=Agnes Harrison they had 5 issue John Thomas, Mary Agnes, Margaret Madeline , Norah Eileen,&William Patrick O'Brien.
I have tried to find this missing Father Grandfather & Gt.Gt. Granfather of mine for many years searching Death records for Aust. also the QLD electoral roll's and could only find him in Maryborough.John had the licence for at least 4 hotels in Maryborough QLD.the old story was that his new wife sent him bankrupt so he left her and his Family never to be seen again.

I am not related to the O'Briens but volunteer to do research for people. I am researching the family of Simon O'Brien - the brother of John. I have not found what happened to John but have a lot of information on Simon's family.
One daughter is listed as Margaret Madeline or Sister Madeline- I can no find a birth for her. There was also a daughter Jane Ann Katherine born 1888 died in Maryborough.
Catherine Gertrude died in Mackay on 8 May 1926 - unmarried. A photo of her headstone is on the net.
