Many of our Prokosch families lived in small villages in Austria (Bohemia), on the border of Germany.  They spoke German as their native tongue.  In fact 4 or 5 of the (Minnesota) Prokosch lines lived within a few kilometers of each other.  My family’s village was called Trohatin, now known as Drahotin in the Czech Republic.  Many of the Prokosch families immigrated to the U.S. in the mid to late 1800’s and quickly headed to New Ulm, MN.  My family later settled in Bird Island, Minnesota in Renville County.
